About
Making art about inner states, by hand, in Russellville, Arkansas.
I am a mixed-media collage artist from a small town in Arkansas. I grew up in a family where making and care were part of everyday life. My mother was an art teacher, my father worked as a painter, and both studied art. One grandmother worked as an interior decorator, and the other as a nurse, shaping my understanding of how environments can support well-being. I am currently a stay-at-home parent, which has allowed me to develop the States of Calm series through focused studio practice and material exploration. My work centers on portraiture, painted paper, and collage as a way to create quiet, restorative visual environments.
I create mixed-media collage portraits that explore calm, contemplation, and representation. Using hand-painted papers, layered textures, and recycled materials, my work invites viewers to pause and inhabit a state of quiet presence. My process balances intuitive mark-making with slow, deliberate assembly, reflecting the relationship between chaos and calm. The figures in my work offer presence without demand — creating space for gentle emotional grounding rather than performance or interpretation. The States of Calm series is the current expression of that commitment.
My work has been selected for the Biafarin Spring BOAPS and Chaos and Calm exhibitions.
